FRESH AIR / by Ben Krebs

Ive been spending a lot of time at the computer lately - so took the morning off and got outside for a bit. Ive had a skateboard sitting in my office for the last couple years that's only seen the pavement a couple times, it finally got some use this morning (although I'm sure it would have looked a lot better with 17 year old me pushing it around) Brad and I did a little wandering and found this little treat hiding in the woods.

The morning also gave me a chance to bust out my latest impulse purchase - the Elinchrom Quadra. I used to have the bigger Ranger pack, but it was a pain in the ass to pack and travel with for small shoots - I once walked around Atlanta on a shoot for about 8 hours with the Ranger and was walking crooked for weeks after. The Quadra, on the other hand, can be tossed in my backpack as easily as a bottle of water - and takes up about the same space. The convenience of this much power in so little space and set up makes a lot less of a "to-do" with portraits and doesn't have me continually questioning whether or not it's worth packing.
